NIMUN XIV
Participating in NIMUN XIV was a transformative experience that honed my skills in diplomacy and public speaking. Representing the delegation of Israel in the Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), I faced the challenge of navigating complex geopolitical issues while advocating for my country’s interests. The conference, originally scheduled for August, was postponed due to severe flooding in my city, adding to the anticipation and pressure. Despite falling ill with typhoid just before the event, I was determined to make a meaningful contribution. Three days prior to the conference, I received an unexpected reassignment from South Korea to Israel. This last-minute change required me to quickly adapt my research and strategy. On the day of the conference, I entered the committee room with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Through thorough preparation and strategic negotiation, I engaged with fellow delegates, addressing pressing issues such as arms control and regional security. My efforts culminated in winning the Best Delegate award, a recognition that validated my hard work and commitment. This experience not only deepened my understanding of international relations but also ignited my passion for diplomacy and reinforced my desire to pursue a career in global affairs.
